Ran across this referenced on another board. It's worth noting, and imitating.

Very cool.

Guys, this is what happens when you get out and do something.

Now, you might not be a strong speaker. You might not "look" presentable. You've got 60,000 folks on this forum, and odds are, one of them lives in your neighborhood. And might even be GOOD at selling someone on this kind of subject.

We need to network. And we need to plan (notice the guy's plan of action). We can't just walk in and rant. That doesn't do any good, and probably hurts us.

Bravo!

This is precisely the way that this should be handled--on both sides.

That is an awesome outcome. The fact that management was willing to listen and change their policy when presented with a logical request to do so is very hopeful. I would be willing to do the same in my area if presented with that situation.

That's a great result, and well done.

Fortunately he was able to influence some "on the fence" people who would still listen to facts and reasoning.

Yes, good show! I would make one suggestion though. The gentleman said that he wore his OFCC shirt to his meeting with mall management. I assume it was a T-shirt or golf-type shirt. Either way, it's prudent to remember that mall management folks are business people. Meet with them on terms they can relate to. Wear a business suit, or at least a dress shirt and tie. No blue jeans. Be clean shaved and well-groomed. For godsakes, don't wear a trucker hat.

I guarantee you that had this gentleman been dressed in mossy oak, scraggly beard, and a battered CAT hat, his message would have been discounted, no matter how well articulated.
