buy guns March 13, 2008, 05:19 PM It's all automated. I just did it and it literally takes less than a minute. I don't know if they record area codes to only accept votes from Cook County residents but it's worth it for everyone to try anyway.
Please take a second to call Todd Stroger's office and petition against the gun ban!!!!
Please do this now...what do have to lose (other than your guns)? I
did it and it only took a minute and it is FULLY AUTOMATED!!!! AND EASY.
This takes literally seconds. It only took about 15 SECONDS to punch in my vote.
CALL 1-312 -603-6400.
Press 1, then option 1, and then VOTE AGAINST THE GUN BAN (OPTION 2)
You can also vote against the sales tax too if you live in Crook Co.

Marcus84 March 14, 2008, 03:12 AM Isn't a gun ban unconstitutional? Not that it would stop Cook County...
stevemis March 14, 2008, 03:20 AM Dialing *67 before placing the call will keep the folks running the poll from figuring out who you are, and whether or not you live in their happy little county.
buy guns March 14, 2008, 10:38 AM Thanks everyone. Good suggestion Steve!
Ske1etor March 14, 2008, 10:43 AM I voted no...
guns&motorcycles March 14, 2008, 10:47 AM Thanks for the number. I live in Cook, and I think it's important for politicians to see how their decisions upset people who don't even have anything to do with their county or state.
todd128 March 14, 2008, 11:08 AM just voted no from Nebraska

Once with my cellphone 703 area code, twice with the work DC 202 area code
kingpin008 March 14, 2008, 02:07 PM Why is it that when we vote twice on things like this, it's all fun and games, but if we hear about politicians doing it, or otherwise fiddling with the numbers, it's an outrage?
Don't get me wrong, I voted NO just like the rest of ya'll - but why is it OK for us to do something like that, when it would cause a firestorm if they did it to us?
Just my two cents, but fair is fair. If you want to vote and help the folks in IL out, go to it. But cheating and voting multiple times doesn't seem like good form to me.
LAR-15 March 14, 2008, 02:57 PM IT'S CHICAGO.
By law you have to vote at least twice
rugerman07 March 14, 2008, 06:25 PM Just called in my No vote.

Because this is to only voice an opinion whereas whatever they are doing usually has some significance. Plus, our "leaders" should be held to higher standards if the public is placing their trust in them.
kingpin008 March 14, 2008, 11:20 PM But by voting multiple times, we're still playing the same type of game - essentially stuffing the ballot box of public opinion. While that may be ok to you, it isn't to me. I'd rather that we played fair, and didn't sink to their level while rationalizing it away as "well, it's ok because it's not a vote, just an opinion."
Basically, my point is this - if we expect the system to change, and people in positions of power to play fair, we must do the same and present our side of the argument honestly. Otherwise what's the point?
Canuck-IL March 15, 2008, 06:17 AM BTT
This is important!

cherryriver March 15, 2008, 07:27 AM This is tied to a wider Daley onslaught, which includes a comprehensive PR campaign across the whole media. He himself appeared at a church yesterday to say that guns, like smoking cigarettes, should be banned.
The poll will no doubt result in an overwhelming "yes" result, like the others he has engineered. Yes, we should still try to tip it back to reality a bit, but there's no stopping him now. He has a complete Cook County ban in place ready to be enacted at any moment, and dealer licensing to close out the rest of the state.
glink March 15, 2008, 09:09 AM IT'S CHICAGO.
By law you have to vote at least twice
Even if you are dead!

Why is it that when we vote twice on things like this, it's all fun and games, but if we hear about politicians doing it, or otherwise fiddling with the numbers, it's an outrage?
Because the God given rights protected by the BOR should NEVER be voted on, not even in a phone poll
If they can put my 2A rights to a vote, I should be able to put there 1A rights to a vote, in which my vote would be shut the hell up
Voted against from Texas......twice
clem629 March 15, 2008, 11:28 AM Just voted from PA.
Wild Deuce March 15, 2008, 12:26 PM But by voting multiple times, we're still playing the same type of game - essentially stuffing the ballot box of public opinion. In case you've missed the memo, this "debate" about our Rights isn't a "debate" and hasn't been one for a while .... especially if you look at how the media controls what makes it to the evening news or the front page.
Example. There was almost (I didn't read every paper or watch every channel) zero to none news coverage of the IGOLD march in Springfield this past week ... in the Chicago media. This is a march that drew close to 2500 marchers. Guess what? Last night on the evening news they devoted close to two minutes of air time to an anti-violence meeting calling for more gun control. They interviewed the organizer of the meeting and let him have his say. There were exactly SIX people seated around a folding table in the musty basement of a church ... that's counting at least one child. SIX people get almost two minutes of evening news time while 2500 don't even get an honorable mention.
Like I've heard said previously .... this isn't a debate, it's a bar fight and as such "any chair in a bar fight." Vote away on these "public opinion" polls.
IDriveB5 March 15, 2008, 12:40 PM no from MD
akodo March 15, 2008, 01:39 PM Why is it that when we vote twice on things like this, it's all fun and games, but if we hear about politicians doing it, or otherwise fiddling with the numbers, it's an outrage?
Because we are stuffing the ballot box of public opinion. It is no different than carrying a larger sign than your opposition at the protest rally. The First Amendment allows us to do it.
now, for an actual mandated election, it would be wrong. This would apply to our elected officials AND to us regular folk.
If the lady manning the voting booth at the schoolboard election was nearly blind, you could probably go to your car, put on your fake beard and different hat, come back in and vote again. That would be wrong.
If the lady manning the opinion poll at the county fair was the same blind old bat, then sure, wear as many fake beards as you want.
ronwill March 15, 2008, 02:03 PM No vote from Georgia. To bad it doesn't give feed back as to the percentages. Locals please let us know how it went.
