Hello. That means primarily that the magazine release is at the bottom of the butt of the pistol rather than the push button release at the rear of the trigger guard. Most folks do seem to prefer the push button release, but there's nothing wrong with the European version, which came out first, in terms of function and accuracy. Reloads are just a tad slower. On the other hand, you don't have to worry about the notch in the magazine wearing with this type pistol.

If the 220 is in decent shape thats a decent price. The Sig 220 is a fine firearm. The question for me would be is how available and how much do the European magazines cost?

I have a heel-release Euro 220 amongst others. Mags are readily available. Check with CDNN. Last I checked they were selling them for around $20. The American style mags will also work in the older Euro version, as the holes in the mag bodies are only for the US mag release and won't affect function in the Euro. Avoid some aftermarket mags with bumper plates, as they may affect fit.
