I have a Bulgarian AK (MAK 90) with a milled reciever - is there a way (or magazine) to make it stay open after the last round in a magazine is fired?

I've seen AK mags advertised that are bolt hold-open, but the bolt closes when you remove the mag.

Yugo AK magazines have a follower that will hold the bolt open. However, I can't say for sure that the follower will engage the bolt in a Bulgarian AK. You might order one (they are cheap ~$12-$20) and see if it works for you.

As stated above, the bolt will close when you remove the magazine. There is no way around this, short of re-designing the AK.

In addition to the Yugo magazines, you can notch your safety, or buy a notched safety, to hold your bolt open.
