I assume this is a standard 2 part handguard. If so then you are neither weak nore stupid. They are just that hard to remove.

There are two methods. One is to get a friends help. One of you pulls down on the belta ring. The other seperates the handguards.

The method I normally use is to get a small flat head screwdriver and wedge it into the gap between the two halves near the delta ring. Pull down on the ring and the Screwdriver should give you enough leverage to seperate at least one of the halves. It takes some work and a lot of 4 letter words but you can get it done.

Actually, there is a third, and better way.

Get a handguard tool, and make it real easy!

The AP-4 .308? it has a permanent aluminum forestock. You have to remove the front sight or the entire barrel to get it off. Just leave it, and clean the dust out with a bottle brush.
