Great idea on .22 tube magazine rifles

I can't remember where but just read an article a couple days ago about the Winchester 9422. The author was talking about how the magazine follower would sometimes get loose from its little notch/pin latching and slide out. So, he slipped a little rubber O ring over the follower up to the knurled knob on the end of the follower. This prevented the follower from jarring loose and sliding out. Can you picture this? (Don't want to insult your intelligence.) But, with the O ring on one has to push a bit harder to get the knurled knob up against the magazine and then turn the follower, of course, to get the little pin to slide into the notch. Many rifles with tube magazines have this. Maybe everyone knew this but me but I wanted to pass it on because that happened a couple times with my Henry Golden Boy. ;)

The spring tube actually flew out?!? :what:
Is the little pin on the tube worn down that much? I'm not familiar with the Henry, just the usual assortment of Mossberg and hardware store .22's from the past. Can the J-slot in the magazine tube be curved inward a little?

slid out of the magazine because it came unhooked through some vibration I guess and my grand-nephew tilted the rifle down a bit and the weight of the cartridges probably helped push the thing out on the ground. So, I had seen this once or twice previously and when I read this article by an old time shooter who is good enough to get published I knew this was a fairly common problem and he had a great answer.

If the tube falls out, you need to close up the end of the outer tube slightly.
It should be a friction fit.
Older Winchester pumps used to have a flat spring that pressed on the inside tube all the time.
9422's are very loose, and can be cured by bending the slot tab in just slightly.
