Hello Everyone,

Ok, here is my problem, I used to have this email saved that showed a product that was basically a magnet that you could attach under your coffee table or desk and it would hold a glock pistol......I lost the email...does anyone know what I'm talking about here? I know I could probably make one, but I am looking for this particular product that is already out there.....thanks in advance for your help.

I bought a couple of under the desk holsters from a guy on auction arms, I think he still sells them there. Basically a sheet of velcro that attaches under the desk and then an elastic retention holster with velcro on the back.

Works well holding my XD9 SC with a loaded extended mag. I think the guy is still selling them there.

Just google "rare earth magnet" and you'll find dozens od scientific magnet vendors, youprobably can also find them in a crafts store or hardware store. A rare earth magnet large-enough to hold a loaded pistol probably won't cost more than $5.00. You will need to wrap the magnet so it won't scratch the pistol as well as figure-out a method to mount it, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Here's a dumb question: If you expose steel to a magnetic field over a long period of time, doesn't that steel become magnetized itself? I'd think that would play hob with all the itsy-bitsy's that have to move around each other inside a pistol's innards...

They work very well. If this photo posts correctly, you'll see!

I very much doubt it. I wouldn't be concerned.

My solution was to use a small belt holster with a strap run through the belt loop and screwed into the underside of the workbench. The retention strap on the holster held the gun in nicely. I could unsnap the strap and pull the gun in one motion. If you're using a magnet, angle it so you can get a good grip on the pistol as you pull it out. Make sure you can pull the pistol without getting any of your booger hooks on the bang switch though. That'd be important.

You mean that an evil plastic gun, designed to get through metal detectors at airports, will stick to a magnet?

Surely that is unpossible... well, unless that whole plastic gun scare was a complete lie from the beginning. But then, why would anyone have fallen for it, and, having done so and found out that they'd been deliberately lied to, why would anyone take the anti-gun media pundits seriously ever again? ;)

Anyhow, some stainless alloys are pretty much unattracted to magnets, so if you're contemplating this with an all stainless (not a Glock of course) you should check it with a magnet you have around the house first.
