First set is in Spalted Tamarindhttp://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh281/sarge43_pics/grips031708splttamarind.jpg

The Bushmaster March 17, 2008, 10:57 AM How much for the Maple burl? For a Colt .45 ACP...
SRT1 March 17, 2008, 02:49 PM Thanks guys! I appreciate the kind words. I make custom grips so anything is possible.

SRT1 March 17, 2008, 02:51 PM Beeswing Narra. Beautiful "rolled" graining that just moves in the light. A great and gorgeous wood! http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh281/sarge43_pics/gripsbeeswingnarra.jpg
SRT1 March 17, 2008, 02:52 PM All are natural color. I don't think that even if I tried, I could improve ont eh beauty of nature. I never stain anything. :)
CWL March 17, 2008, 03:55 PM Nice grips! How do you stabilize the softer/brittle woods like the spalted tamarind?
SRT1 March 17, 2008, 04:05 PM I use a wood hardener. Most of the Tamarind is solid, but some of it can get a little "punky". A dip in the hardener firms it right up and makes it solid. You can also use CA glue for this if you prefer, but it's more expensive and hard on your eyes (if you've tried it, you know what I mean) to do it that way.
davepool March 17, 2008, 04:41 PM Nice work! as much as i like the exotic woods, i think the maple burl is the best looking
SRT1 March 17, 2008, 04:57 PM There are so many beautiful woods around the world. It's really unbelievable as far as the variety of grains, colors and textures. All of them are beautiful.
Eye candy. ;) The kind that doesn't get us married or attached types into trouble (unless you stop by the gun store on the way home :D).
