Specifically, the 148-grain SJHP @ a listed velocity of 1500fps? I was wondering if anyone had done gelatin or chronograph testing with this round out of a 4" barrel. Any observations from simply shooting it are welcome as well!

Listed ballistics match the old-time factory loads but who knows if it actually does?

Thanks,

I have used the 142 fmj...its a nice hot load for a reasonable price.

I like shooting them in my 6" gp. Too hot for the smaller guns. recoil and blast is heavy.

Guys, I have shot the 142 grain truncated cone and I agree it is a good, fun loading. I am asking about the 148 grain hollow point. Specifically, I am looking for chronograph data or terminal performance information.

Thanks,

We used to shoot them a lot. Then we decided it was getting a little risky. My last box of 50 125gr. (screaming fiocchi's) probably had 5 cases split length wise after being shot... no thanks

Elvishead, are those figures from a 4" barrel? Also, what does the first sequence of numbers in each line mean?

Thanks,

I have found a website in the interim which partially answers my questions; here it is if anyone is wondering the same thing:

I've always found the Italians load their pistol/revolver hotter than we do. Even their .38 standard load seemed like our +P.

It looks like magnum ammo loaded to *gasp* magnum velocities. The 148gr jhp measuring 1131fps from a 2 1/4" barrel looks like a very decent factory load, I would like to try it from a 6". The 142gr truncated cone must be a good hole puncher.

Some of the rounds tested exceed their advertised velocities, but who knows what test barrels are being used for the other calibers?
