Oh my... Allright it's a stretch to get that to fit, I apologize to the Wizard of Oz purists for the massacring of that quote. All said and done, good evening Gents, and any ladies. Recently I was given a few different rifles from a friend who was moving and just wanted to be rid of them. They were in good shape, a little surface rust and a small pieces missing (front sight, magazine that type) I spent a week or two cleaning them up and fired all of them at the range with the exception of the shotgun. Anyhow, I have some pictures of them, the few (hopefully stupid and easy to answer questions) will be at the bottom

First up we have the Marlin 336SC in .35 Remington. A before and after, needed a new buttplate (Original was cracked in 4 pieces) It was pre-tapped for a mount and I just happened to have an old Weaver scope. fun little gun, probably shoot my reloads for it this weekend

Next is a Savage Model 7. Magazine fed, Shorts, Long, and Long Rifle. Fired it this weekend, my first semi-auto rifle and I was LOVING it. Next paycheck I'll be buying an extra magazine or twenty lol

And last but not least is the Ithaca "Wingmaster". Have to say it has one of the smoothest actions of a shotgun I've cycled... Which isn't much considering I've only fired 2 shotguns in my life lol.

Also have an Ithaca Model 72 Saddlegun that I thought was a Henry at first glance, but no questions on that one so I won't bore you with the pictures.

Now, onto the question portion, first and foremost, the Marlin 336SC. Anytime I look at this rifle online it has a tube that extends the length of the barrel, not stopping short like it does on this one. Also, the stocks are usually checkered and have a cap on the bottom of the pistol grip. All things which this rifle seems to be missing. Is this another Variant of the Marlin 336 that I just haven't looked hard enough for? Only safety on this thing is the half-cock hammer, no crossbolt or anything like that if it helps. Any easy way to find the year of manufacture?

Savage Model 7. I can't find anything about this rifle on the web. I've searched, come up with every number except for 7. I found a few parts on the Numerich web page. I've got the basic Idead down, push the bolt handle in and it'll lock to function as a single shot for the shorts and longs, leave out and cycling for long rifle. Real question I have on this one is if there is a manual anywhere online? I'd like to read up on it, see if there's anything in a manual that I may have missed.

Finally, the Ithaca Wingmaster. This one was the roughest to clean of them all, good portions of surface rust that extended a little bit into the metal, minor pitting, not very bad, I've seen worse on 91/30's and K31's. Anyhow, I ordered a replacement front bead sight for this from Numerich, didn't fit however, hole on the end of the barrel seems to be a little larger, anyone know if there was a different style of front sight on these? And again, what would I have to do to go about finding information or a year on this one?

Appreciated everyone, and sorry for the long post, just stuff bouncing around in my head that I've had no luck answering

Your Marlin's 336SC suffix stands for Sporting Carbine, which got you a half magazine and a 20" barrel. Standard grade Marlins did not used to have checkered stocks, it is just fairly recently that machine checkering has made it affordable on anything but deluxe rifles.

I don't know where you might find literature on that Savage 7. But if you see a manual for a Savage 6 or Stevens 87, they are similar except for having tubular magazines.

There are several different bead shank sizes for shotguns. Brownells says Ithaca uses 6-48.
There is a long, long, Ithaca thread with poster Black Talon looking up years of manufacture.
