I even see Detective Special and it's variants gettin' some love.

But there is very little said about the Colt Lawman Mk. III snub.

What's up with this Colt?
What's its reputation?
Anyone carry it?

The good:
1. Going nowhere but up in value
2. Great trigger and action
3. Handles any ammo you throw in it
4. Beautiful finish, especially case colored hammer and trigger
5. Built like a tank
The bad:
1.Weighs more than a wiener dog on steroids (see #5 above)
2.Stock grips are uncomfortable and the after market grips leave a lot to be desired.

Just my opinion, great gun but too heavy for every day use, plus they're getting way too valuable to use as a carry gun. Great to take out to the range for an occasional shoot.

I agree. With a 3-inch barrel it would have made a great carry piece in an IWB or OWB holster. As it was the frame was way too big for the barrel length. Notice that the really popular snubbies can be pocket carried. Colt thought they had an alternative to S&W's K and L-frame models with snub-length barrels, but the law enforcement market they targeted was switching to compact pistols.

My MkIII has a 4" tube, but I just _love_ that gun :) Great shooter. I am looking for some good after-market grips for it though.

First new handgun I ever bought was a 4" Lawman MK III, in the "ColtGuard" electroless nickel finish. Sad to say, we parted ways several years after. This was '78 or '79, and I paid $140. It was an excellent price to pay, even back then. Like to have that one back...........

I always liked the looks of the Lawman MK. III with the 2" barrel; sort of reminded me of the old British Bulldog revolvers from the late 1800's. And the only factory wood grips ever to fit my hand perfectly were the ones that came with the Trooper MK. V that I owned.

We're getting lost in the shuck & jive about where the pictures came from and are forgetting the Colt Lawman Snub. Back to the gun. As soutex50 can tell you I love the big Colt snubbie. The size makes controlling the full house 357 loads easy and it will chew up a lot of them before it shoots loose. My example is pretty much the same gun as pictured. The big rubber grips suck for concealment so I dumped them in favor of a set of wooden grips soutex50 was kind enough to pass along. It's probably going to be my summertime under the t-shirt gun when it's just too hot to hide anything else. I like the Smith k frame snubs too but there's just something about that lawman that calls to me. I'd like to get a couple more before everybody discovers this little treasure.

kwazy I understand what you are saying, I would be a little upset if someone flat out stole my pics and posted them on the internet as their own but this is not the case here, he stated that they were infact not his. This post was intended to draw attention to a very fine revolver which may in turn make someone go in search of one which would have only helped your buisness, I understand completely that you would like to plug your listing for the revolver with the listed pics I just think there could have been a nicer way to do it.

the colt lawman is indeed a very fine revolver and would make a great carry piece pending I was not concerned with its value, though I do see the weight as a little bit of an issue so i probablly would want to keep it on the waist which would just make it an occasional carry gun.
