Anyone have any loads for the 7.5x54 French they'd like to share?

I haven't the load but from a french magazine with an article about the Mas 49/56, they list a few interesting powder to use for the 7.5x54:

-Tubal 3000 & 5000 (see manual n6 of R. Malfatti and Sp9 Sp7)
-Vihtavuroti N-140 & N-540

else see manual Hornady n7.

Cases easily formed by necking up 6.5x55 swede cases. If firing in semi-auto rifle be sure and use CCi#34 primers to prevent slam fires as the firing pin is not restrained in any way. 150 gr. bullet over 47.0 gr. IMR4895 work well in semi-auto and bolt guns.

DO NOT! form 7.5x54 from 6.5x55

Domestic 6.5x55 cases use a retarded undersized .473 case head which is already undersized by .007" for the swede. If formed into 7.5MAS you have a .013 undersized case head and web.

NOT GOOD

Grafs.com sells 7.5mas brass quite reasonably priced.

For loads I use 7.62x54R or 308win data Either work well as the French and Russian round have identical case capacity, and 308 works cause all the rifle models chambered for 7.5 French have been converted to 308win. With slightly greater case capacity a 308 load will operate as slightly less pressure in a 7.5MAS case.

2 yrs. ago I ordered 7.5x54 mas ammo from OWS. It was in Winchester 6.5x55 cases and worked perfectly in all the rifles we had on hand. 1936 models and 49/56 models. Have since seen it in common use in Montana, Idaho, wyo. and washington in the west. This was before Graf had it out. Either way it makes good rifles shoot very well.

Thanks for all the responses.

I'll be firing from a MAS 36. I have some mixed brass from FNM and Prvi Partizan, both already 7.5x54 so I won't need to worry about forming cases.

I actually got this rifle several years ago but only fired one box of ammo through it because until recently I didn't really have anywhere to shoot rifles on a regular basis. Right after I bought it I got some dies and made up two starter loads which I never got around to firing. I just pulled them out from their lonely position at the back of the cabinet:

147gr FMJBT over 35.0 grains of IMR 4895, and the same bullet over 36.0 grains of IMR 4895. 10 each.

Does this sound like a good low end starting load for this round? I've heard the MAS 36 is capable of some pretty impressive accuracy. Mine is in excellent condition and appears to have been counterbored at some point. Look forward to shooting this oddball rifle a bit more.

I use loads from the 30-40 Krag, and from the .308, though I use low end .308 loads. QuickLoad says they're well within pressure limits, and my chronograph hasn't shown anything abnormal.

Halo

Those two loads should be fine, with a max chamber pressure of 34kpsi.
