I would like some suggestions on thumbhole stocks for a 700 varmit.

Welcome to THR!
Boyds (http://boydsgunstocks.com/) is the only one in my book. The have the Ross thumbhole and the VT thumbhole configurations for your rifle.

Those folks know what they're doing. I have two of their VIP (virtual inlet part) JRS Classic stocks and they fit my 700 actions perfectly without requiring any fitting whatsoever.

what is the difference between the ross and vt besides the price. i have to get something different than what came on the gun.
