You remove your panels from your 1911 and submerge your piece in the liquid and let it sit for a few minutes. Then remove, drip dry, wipe off and your gun is clean. Works for polymer and steel / alloy.
Any comments?

I won a small bucket of the stuff playing trivia at the late Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot (trivia, unfortunately, was always my best event).
I used it for a while and it worked fine but I reacted to something in it.
I went back to FP10 which doesn't make me react as much.

ACP230 - Does it do any lubing in the cleaning /drip dry process? Or is it simply a "cleaning solvent" type liquid? If not, then I don't see any sense in usuing it as you will still need to strip your piece for lubrication correcT?

It is supposed to clean and lube.
I usually ended up adding some lube to my .45s when I took them to the range. It might not have been neccessary.

Somebody...Somewhere gave me a recipe for my own version of dunkit. Equal parts kerosene and WD-40 with a cup of Marvel Mystery oil thrown in. I've used it for years in a .50 cal. ammo can. Dunk it, scrub the stubborn spots, bore brush the bore/cylinders, redunk it and blow out the excess with compressed air. Seems to work well. leaves a thin film of oil on everything. Magazines and bore wiped out prior to carry. Never tried the commercial stuff.

I got a recipe for something similar from The American Gunsmith (no I'm not a gunsmith, but I do play one at my workbench). I've used it for about a year, and it seems to work well. I let the guns soak a while (times have varied from 2 hours to overnight) and the crud comes off real easy. About every 3rd cleaning I do pull the sideplate off revilvers and strip down semi-autos to check for interior "stuff". So far so good.
