ACOG Reticle in "I Am Legend"

I've tried asking this question in other ACOG threads with no answer. I have also searched many different sites looking for it with no help...

Is the reticle on Will Smiths ACOG real? If so, what is the style called? They didn't show it for very long, and it was before I owned an ACOG, so I couldn't really tell if all the fancy stuff on it was necessary or not.

Thanks.

Yes, and no. The scope (exterior) is definitely a Trijicon ACOG. The red fiber optic running down the top and the profile is a dead giveaway. But the reticle is from a Russian POSP scope. You cant get a Trijicon with this reticle. The POSP scopes are usually put on SVD's, Dragunov knockoffs and some taticrap AK's. So in the "I am Legend" configuration, it is fake.......mabye he made it himself since he had all that time on his hands alone ;)

If your interested in a different scope with the same reticle as the movie, here's the type your looking for

If you want that reticle, get the IOR M2. Schott glass (Zeiss-like quality), same reticle or similar to "I am Legend"

But...I prefer the ACOG (had both). I love the illuminated chevron. On target - shoot. Not on target? Shoot again.

Those Russian reticles are better suited for DMR/SPR/short-to-medium range sniping. Not an action-shooting scope like the ACOG. With a Russian reticle like that, you set up the shot.

+1 what other people said. It's not an ACOG reticle.

Grandowner, thats the one!

That's what I figured...It was before I owned an ACOG, so I wasn't paying that close attention.

I'll stick with my ACOG.;)

I don't see myself ever getting rid of it...There's a good chance it'll have some companions one day too.:)

what is the fiberoptic thing intended to do?

taticrap AKs

Wanna define terms for me? Are we talking the traditional Tapco-humped waste of $ on a Friday-made WASR, or are talking about something that's actually useful, despite your misgivings?

to light the reticle.

what is the fiberoptic thing intended to do?

Some of the more recent (well, not really all that new) models of the ACOG have the fiberoptic line to illuminate a chevron or donut as part of the reticle for close in work (0-300), besides the more conventional black BDC for longer range.

The illuminated chevron/donut/whatever is also supposed to bring the eye onto target faster and allow the ACOG to function somewhat like a red dot sight for CQC range shooting.

The fiber optic gathers light so efficiently and illuminates the reticle so well that people run them with duct tape over the fiber optic during the day.
