I've been out of the auto market for a long time, was carrying revolvers for CCW. Now that I've bought a PT1911, I carry it daily.
Back in the late 80's, early 90's I carried a S&W 645 for a duty weapon with the CCI hollowpoint "flying ashtray" for a service load.It was a good round, and with the non reloadable cases, not overly expensive.
I've seen ammo prices so high now, it's even hard to just practise budget wise. I found a box of those good old rounds at a local gun shop, but the guy wants $39.00 for a box of 50. Is this right for a hollowpoint .45 auto round? Do you carry anything different.
I kinda come from the old school, you practise with what you carry and make sure you know where it hits and it is reliable in your gun. So right now, I'm carrying regular 230 hardball. I don't doubt the stopping power of hardball, but over penetration might be a problem. Any recommendations?
