That wheel on the right (looks like a laid-over beer can) has a line on the left, and incremental markers on the right side of it. Spin it up to increase, and down to decrease your weight. So, for 3.5g, turn it up to the third notch from the right on the scale above the cylinder, and for the .5, turn it up until the line by the .5 meets the 1g scale. Once you tinker with it, it should be pretty clear.

The next most important steps that I encourage you not to skip is to A) zero the scale first and B) Use a checkweight to verify that your scale is accurate.

Happy reloading!

No sweat. I'm not sure how everyone else does it, but I use that little plastic screw on the back to lock my powder weight in, and whenever I get up to refill my primer feed (100 rounds) I toss a load in the scale, just to make sure I'm still dropping the right numbers.

Zero, assuming you want something less than 10g. Tally it all, high to low. Every line on the left scale means 10g. Every line on the right scale means 1g, and the marks on the rotating cylinder are 0.1g.

Ask anything... it's a lot easier than blowing up a gun.

I had been thinking the same thing!

Here are the instructions for the 5-10 scale, in case you didn't get them.

http://www.rcbs.com/downloads/instructions/Model510ScaleInstructions.pdf

Suggest you print them out and read them before you blow yourself up.
(Especially the part about zeroing the scales before each use.)
