This is a follow-up from the thread I started back in early Mar 08. I used most of the suggestions posted (thanks you all) in hopes of obtaining consitant groupings. The results are mixed. Overall, the grouping has increased (6 inches @ 50 yards) however, I am getting a 6 inches drop with patch/ball and 8 inches with conicals. I used 60 through 100 grains of Pyrodex with the same results. Should I consider filing down the front sight to bring the shots up?

With fixed sights that would be the way to bring it up to POA is file off the top of the front sight ...BUT ..if you want to shoot round balls and conicals ..you won`t be able to have POA with both ..sight in with round balls and the conicals will shoot low ..sight in with the conicals and the round balls will shoot high .The heavyer the conical the lower it will shoot ...a good reason to have 2 rifles .

through my muzzleloader the greatest thing that impacted the accuracy of my shooting was in the bullets. different brands had different impacts. now this is for an inline though. I found those costly powerbelts were the most accurate i have ever shot. i have working up and down loads trying to get my R.E.A.L bullets to shoot as accurate. i will have to revist this once i start to get tired of shooting cap and ball. for now though thats on the back burner.
