OK.........I've been shooting my Savage Model 12 223 (1-7) with 77g SMKs at 500 yards. Only problem is that with a 20 MOA base, my Bushnell 4200 bottoms out. On the plus side, it gives me a perfect 300 yard zero. I built a Savage 6.5x47 Lapua I plan to shoot at 1000 yards, so I moved the scope and base to the rifle, and put a 15 MOA base and 6-18 Nikon on the 223. Anyway............the 223 is fine, and I have a 100 yard zero now. I never got the 6.5 on paper though. I think it was shooting way over at 300, and I had to hold about 12" low to hit a steel plate @ 500. Am I just completely lost about the differences in trajectorys in these cartridges? Maybe I should make sure I didn't put the base on backwards. Any other ideas?
