I'm pretty happy with the Portugese 308 and South African 223 I've been shooting for 3yrs. My only problem is I don't see it ANYWHERE anymore.

Where have you been getting your Surplus ammo from?

I usually get a case or half of one of Wolf for my SKS whenever a gunshow comes to town.

I get most of my surplus ammo from www.aimsurplus.com and some from www.dansammo.com. Once in a while I buy from www.southernohiogun.com and www.cheaperthandirt.com. Sometimes www.natchezss.com has surplus also.

AIM has South African .308 and Dan's has some of the Australian .308 which is easily as good if not better than Portugese. However, it is a bit pricier because it comes on stripper clips in bandoliers and in 30 cal ammo cans.

Have any of you guys done business www.wideners.com? I just noticed that they are right near me, but never bought anything from them yet.

I keep an eye on AIM all the time, if they don't have a great price on the ammo you are looking for now wait a few months and it will show up.

I've done a ton of business with Wideners. They don't always have the best prices but they have a wide selection of stuff and good customer service. I buy all of my reloading stuff from them.

I just got 800 rounds of Australian .308 from www.ammoman.com. It came as orignially packed with bandoleers, ammo cans, and a big green wood box. Pretty cool.

I have had bad experiences with surplus ammo and don't like to keep collections of various manufacturers. I'd much rather keep the same stuff around.

How does the Australian stuff compare to SA, Port, Hirt ect.......

After getting 200 rounds of Australian .308 from Midway, I ordered 1000 rounds in bandoleers (no ammo cans) from Eric of Ammoman. Good stuff, Maynard.

I've been shooting Santa Barbara(spanish), port and pindad(indonesian) 7.62x51 ammo as of late. Of the three my rifle seemed to like the SB ammo the best.

How does the Australian stuff compare to SA, Port, Hirt ect....... It's easily as good if not better than Portugese and SA. Nice, new manufacture, clean and seems very accurate.

Dan's Ammo has some.

I picked up 4 cases of the Australian 308 yesterday from Ammoman. Cost me $140 a case. I have to pick it up I live in NJ. Eric is a nice guy who is knowledgeable and very helpful he told me that he will beat anybody's price because he wants my business. I plan on stocking up next on some 7.62X39 because I just bought a Saiga sporter yesterday as well.
