Grandpa Shooter

As a statement of my intentions in reloading, let me say that I expect any handgun I own to shoot less than 2" groups at 10 yards, whether benched, or in my hands while standing.
I worked up some loads with Win 231 and 2 different casters bullets. I used 125g LRN and 135g LRN to build 9mm loads for my KelTec P11.
I built loads for the 125g with 3.4 and 3.7 grains of #231 with Laredo bullets and X-Caliber bullets.
I also built loads for 135g Laredo bullets with 4.0, 4.4 and 4.7 grains of #231.
All bullets were built on my Lee 3 hole turret press with RCBS dies. Just enough crimp to get the bell out and seated to the top of the flat side of the bullet. 1.095
The 135g LRN with the 4.0g #231 shot to within 2" but with a sharp recoil. When I checked the primers they were smeared flush with the primer pocket with no discernable firing pin hit. Too hot for the KelTec. I tried 5 of the 4.4 with all of the bullets keyholing. Way too hot! Did not try the 4.7g load. I like my KelTec.
The 125g load of 3.4 #231 was a comfortable load to shoot. There was a raised ring around the firing pin strike, but no smearing. The Laredo bullets
shot slightly high with the first 5 with more spread than I like. I changed my position slightly and shot another group which was 2 overlapping and 3 overlapping 3/4" apart. I attribute that to operator error. 3.7 grains of #231 put the bullets 2" apart with a spread of 3 1/2". Not to my liking. Acceptable for SD, but not what I expect.
I changed to the X-Caliber bullets with 3.4 of #231 and got overlapping holes dead center in a 1" orange paster. Wow. Light recoil + good accuracy. I stood up and shot another 10 just to convince myself. Then I shot 10 of the X-Caliber with 3.7g of #231 and kept it all in tight. Both loadings with the X-Caliber bullets dropped the brass close enough I could kneel and pick them all up without moving. Now that's performance!
Just for kicks, since somebody on here said the KelTec P11 did not feed 147g Hyda-skok, I tried some. The KT put them overlapping at dead center. I had to look to see the individual cuts make to count them all.
Only malfunctions in all of this was five light strikes on 9mm military or police with crimped pockets. They fired on being hit a second time. I assume the primer moved into the pocket on the first strike and then fired the second time around. There were no other malfunctions.

Telephone is 480 861 6910. The one real gun shop within 50 miles of me carries them and I will go back this week and clean them out. The price has to be 9 months old.
