SC THR Shoot

After reading the thread about the TN shoot, I'm determined to get all the SC guys and gals together sometime soon. I'm liquid again (no pun intended :scrutiny: ), so I can actually afford it now.
Several of us are members of Mid Carolina Rifle Club here in Columbia. This seems like a good location as it is in the middle of the state. Weekdays are better because each member of the club can take up to 10 guests. Weekends are doable, but there are matches held in the mornings and each member can only take up to 4 guests. If we get too many people, we can shift the shoot to the range in Whitmire, about 40 minutes from Columbia.
My job has random hours, but I can take a day off any time I want. I don't really have a preference for dates except that it be done before school starts back on 8/25. Everybody please chime in with dates and comments and whatever else is on your mind!

Well, I'm in if scheduling permits. I'm off on Sundays and Tuesdays.
Hopefully, this won't conflict with my sunday IDPA shoots.
Is there good eats down yonder? I like to shoot some and drink some afterwards. Or are we looking at a potluck barbecue type of get-together?

I KNEW I should've moved back to SC this summer. :( I guess there's always next year.

Just let me know the time and place....right now, my schedule is wide open.

How about 8/17 or 8/24. Makes no difference to me. There are a lot more SC members on this board, gonna try to keep this thread on the first page so everyone sees it.
On 8/17 there is a steel silhouette match from 9am-12pm. There is nothing scheduled for the 24th.

How do you shoot a steel match?? How many rounds do you need? Can I use duty gear?
The 17th would work for me as I'm heading to Myrtle on the Sixth of next month for wild times and will need to rest up.
Of course, if this is just an informal gathering, the 24th will work. We can shoot some and then head for dinner and drinks somewhere.

I'd like to go, but I usually end up working on Sundays.:(

The only thing formal about this shoot will be the meeting time. The club has a gate that only members have the combo to, and they usually close the gate after matches. If people aren't there when we leave, they won't be able to get in unless they call on a cell, and service out there is kinda iffy. I was hoping to get more of a response, I know there are lots more SC residents on the board.

Just found out that 8/17 is better for me, but sacrifices can be made and the 24th is doable.

Family obligations may take precedence, but I'll try to make it either Sunday afternoon (August 17th or 24th). I'm a member at MCRC.
Just post the selected date/time!!

Can a former SC resident particapate? I may be able to make either date. I still work down here.

shfttrsh - what kind of question is that? Of course everyone is welcome to come! I just don't expect too many people from other states to join us.
Let's make it the 24th, gives people a little more time to plan. We can work out meeting time and all that when it gets closer to time.

I'd love to jump in on this, but the wife works the next two weekends, and I've got the four kids to try and contain. Trust me, you don't want MY 4 at the range! Now the two boys might enjoy, but the girls would'nt do it.
Is this a handgun event, or is there going to be some rifle shootin' to go along with it? I's love to get the Garand on a range and sight it in finally.

Mid Carolina has several ranges - 200yd rifle, 75yd general purpose, plinking, shotgun, 5 pistol bays, plate machine. There's room for everything, and you can go wherever you want in the complex as long as you're with a member and follow the range rules.

Gonna be at some stupid weddings the weekends of the 30th and the 6th. :fire:Maybe sometime after work during the week would be great.
Me and my brother (Outfieldjack) are most interested.

Sportcat - how is a wedding on the weekend of the 30th going to keep you from coming on the 24th?
For people that can't make it at whatever meeting time we decide, we'll have to distribute cell numbers or something. I think they lock the gate after the matches are over.

Didn't realize the 24th was a go. I'll actually be in Anderson this weekend with the Mrs. house shopping. Just got offered a position at Clemson.

Looks like this weekend is kind of a bust as most people have something else to do. I'm open to reschedule. As of the 26th, I'm free any time except Tuesdays and Thursdays.
I threw out the last date, somebody else can do it this time. I just went up there today, so I can wait a little longer.
Oh yeah, and I'll have 10 boxes of S&B 9mm for $5/box if anyone is interested - I won't have my 9mm for another couple of weeks.

Someone pick a new date/time and chances are I'll be able to make it.
31st sounds fine to me, though being labor day weekend, I suspect many will be out of town.

Cannot make the 31st. Youngest sons 8th birthday and family coming to town. Bummer. Maybe a shoot during the week? Everyone call in sick! Yea, that's it, I'm sick of not getting enough range time!:D You cannot trust us state employees!

There's nothing scheduled on the 31st at Mid Carolina.
I'm fine with pretty much any time except Tuesdays and Thursdays. I can still go tomorrow if anyone wants to. We can always get a big shoot together sometime later, but anyone that wants to go tomorrow just say so.
