I've been looking at getting a Savage in .300 ultra mag, but someone was telling me there is a problem with the rifle/cartridge pairing. I know the older models weren't worth a darn, but I thought they redesigned their feeding system.
Anyone know if this will pose a problem, or am I good to go?
Thanks.

I have had mine for 7 years and no issues except finding more ammo to feed it!

I'd check on the Savageshooters forum, but I haven't heard of a problem. Only problems I've had is from converting a older 7mag to a 6.5x55 and not changing the magazine box. Changed the box, it feeds fine now. And my 6.5X47 Lapua isn't feeding right from an older staggered feed 308 magazine, but I single shot it anyway. I'm sure it wouldn't be a big deal to fix. Haven't heard of any problems with the new centerfeeds, but some people love to blow any slight issue out of proportion on the 'net.
