I would like to put together a load to duplicate feeding and firing of my defensive load. I suspect that a RNFP would do, but I remember seeing these on sale at Midway, but no longer... May be stuck with Golden Saber, or plated H.P.

I don't think I've ever seen HydraShok bullets sold as a loading component, Gary h.
You ought to be able to load up something which duplicates the trajectory, just for practice, with one of the bulk sale 230 jacketed bullets, and for a lot less money.
The HS load is fairly warm, IIRC. Try 6.5 gr. Unique for around 860 fps. It shoots to same POI, as far as I can tell, out beyond 50 yards. The complaints about "dirty" Unique usually spring from loading it with lead bullets, but even that isn't really bad.
Best of luck,
Johnny

I've only seen it available one time and at one vendor. I was just hoping to save some money when shooting for reliable feed. I guess that the Golden Saber bullet would be about as close to the HydraShok as I'm going to get with regards to feeding.

Midway once advertised them, but I don't think they ever got any in from Federal to actually stock and sell. Worth more to Federal in factory ammo.
I guess you will just have to hold a HS up beside every brand of JHP on the market looking for a similar nose shape.

I haven't had any problems with 230 grain Hornady XTPs, but have had some with 230 grain Speer gold dots...
The pistol likes Federal HS just fine.

I've personally bought Hydra's from Midway and reloaded them, so they have had them in stock. Don't know whether they're in stock now or not.
