Cheap Polishing Media

I saw someone mention in another thread that they were buying corncob and walnut tumbler media at the pet supply store - apparently the same stuff is also used as gerbil poop media. So I made a trip to the pet store yesterday and picked up twice as much corncob for half what I usually pay. The pet store stuff is a little coarser grind - larger bits - but it seems to work the same.

Just thought I would post this tip in its own thread, in case other folks didn't know about this.

I'm not sure if it was my post, but I recently started using this slightly larger sized cornxob media. I get a 40 lb bag for $15.95 out the door, and it works as well as the Dillon stuff on .45ACP and 9mm - which is all I've tried so far.

Check in the local Yellow Pages for someone selling "Abrasives". They'll have 50# bags in various 'chunk sizes', about $15 the last time I bought any. Even cheaper than pet stores, and you can choose your grit.
