I ran across a little video clip on the "Fox fans" side of the foxnews.com site..
For those that are registered (its free and lets you watch lots of news clips)
it is featured on the RH side of the Fox Report page. (under FNC shows select Fox Report under primetime) http://www.foxnews.com/foxreport/index.html
scroll down a bit and you should see it. If your not registered just click the video and it gives you a chance to sign up.
Anyways this was the tag line...
Hollow Point Ban?
Human rights groups are trying prevent border patrol agents from using what they say is a particularly deadly type of ammunition
Of course it wasn't even mentioned that one of the primary benefits of HP, besides it having more effective stopping power, is the reduced potencial of colateral damage.
Now obviously in the desert your not too worried about the round going through the perp and then a wall and hitting an innocent bystander.
But I think that's an important element to HP that is NEVER brought up in the media. (I know big shock there)

There seems to be a camp that thinks that FMJ does not kill and ... HP does!!
Frankly ..... if a rifle (or handgun for that matter) is employed to apply lethal force then HP is the choice IMO ... it does indeed reduce colateral damage risk (even if we are talking wide open spaces) .... but it also ''does the job''.
Anyone pulling the trigger should have already decided that lethality is a pre-requisite or necessity .... after that it is only results that matter.
The ''hype'' over HP's and derivatives is and always will be the ''dum-dum'' gut emotion argument. Efficiency is what I want ..... and probably most do also.... in whatever theater.

Maybe they're on to something here. If the Border Patrol used ball ammo they could take out two illegals per round. :neener:

They're "concerned" about the "human rights" of illegal aliens at the expense of the civil rights of American citizens. They're parasites.

Simple summary:
Using HP means fewer rounds needed to stop someone - and the fewer holes in someone, the more likely they'll survive.
Throw it back in their faces: ask if, given that the border agent needs to stop the perp, they'd rather the perp be given a better chance of survival - and if "yes", then say the answer is HPs.

Like this is something new. 25 years ago (or more) changing over to 158 gr. SWC from RN in dep`t .38s were called Dum Dums by the Dumb & Dumber crowd. Then they got into the act again when +Ps were authorized. Forget HPs. Only spacemen used them.:banghead: Bottom line, dead illegals and criminals don`t vote.

I saw the report. Struck me as unusually disjointed.
Has anyone emailed FOX with a critique of the piece? Seems a little education on what and why would go a long way. The piece seemed to me to be a throwaway meaning no real research went into it.

Exactly, it's less damaging to be shot once with a 9mm HP than 2-3 times with 9mm ball ammo.

Not only that, but sued the BLM to force one of our own goobermint agencies to place drums of fresh water in the deserts to keep illegal border crossers from dying of thirst.:banghead: :cuss:
The argument to ban HP's sounds alot like the same tune used by the VPC to ban 'assault weapons' -the semi-auto weapons are much more deadly than the fully auto weapons because each shot can be aimed, then go on to say that they are deadly because they can spray bullets from the hip. :barf:
What will happen if HP's are banned from the use of Border Patrol agents, is that human rights groups will go after fmj bullets claiming that they are deadly military bullets, and can overpenetrate and kill innocent people. Before long, Our Border Patrol agents will be require to hand a boquet of roses, keys to a new car and a new house, and a huge entitlement check over to each illegal they find crossing the border.
:cuss: :fire:
Note these human rights groups never go after genocidal dictators who routinely spray their own citizens with bullets, rape them, or place political prisoners in wood chippers if they happened to have survived being rolled over by a tank. These people hate America, our standard of living, and our freedoms, and need to be fought tooth and nail at every level.
