Identifying an old shotgun

I have an old side by side 12 gauge made by the Alger Arms Company. I'm trying to get a clearer picturer of when the gun was made.

Originally, I'd been thinking of trying to shoot it, but unless someone could definitively tell me it was safe, I think I've put that out of my head. But I'm still very curious about the gun.

So - does anyone know anything about guns made by the Alger Arms Company? Any identifying marks I should be looking for? Any idea how old it may be?

The only info I have on Alger Arms is that it was a name used on Belgian guns imported into the US, probably at the end of the 1800s. Not firing it is probably a pretty good idea, but if you can post a close-up picture of the water-table and barrel lug (the parts of the receiver and barrel that fold closed together), I may be able to tell you when it was built.
