Question About Colt new Frontier Buntline .22

I am wondering what the difference is why some of the Colt New Frontier Buntline .22 i have has a Blue Frame , and most other New Frontiers i am seeing have a Case Harden Frame ?

Assuming the blue finish is original, I think it is the date of manufacture. They went to all blue in 1985, not long before they discontinued the line.
