Removing BHP safety

What is the secret to removing the Browning HP safety? I'm working on a
Hungarian FP9 copy. The sear and sear spring are out, there is no tension
on the hammer spring. The safety moves up and down freely, the safety
plunger is visible and can be pushed in with a small screwdriver, but the
safety will not come out with the amount of force I am comfortable using
at this point. What am I missing?

Try pivoting the ejector downward until it stops, then push the safety out.

Awesome, worked right away first try! How fiendishly clever. Thank you for this information.
