A Musuem has called you and they recognize your infinite wisdom in Firearm trivia and minutia. They want your opinion on what firearms they should have in their collection. You can only pick one and it cannot be one previously chosen by one of the fellow members of this illustrious board.
My pick would be the first FBI issued S&W Model 13 3" heavy barrel, Round butt with issue holster.

1896 Mauser. Broomhandle. The only problem would be the people visiting the museum and wondering why Chewbacca's laser crossbow thing isn't sitting right beside it.

but it was a 1 shot 45 stamped pistol. had to pop the shell out with a pencil. it was supposedly made in the millions by the US an distrubited to South American countries to assist an promote assinations of corrupt dictators. i read this in a janes book a long time ago. ill find it tonight and elaborate more. the pistol itself is junk but the history of it would be museum grade material

BAR
First practical man portable machinegun firing full sized rifle cartridges. Used in two world wars, and several police actions world wide on our side and the enemy's. Also used with notorious effect by Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker. According to tales ofthe gun one of the most innovative designs of the 20th century.
I have to agree, and its a hoot to shoot, and was designed by JMB himself.

A matched pair of Joseph Manton duelling pistols, cased, with accessories. Of course, the cost of this pair would probably pay for every one of the guns mentioned by other posters, with a substantial chunk of change left over... but then, collecting's expensive! :D

I'd add a Winchester 1885 hi-wall single shot. JMB's first design, which got him noticed by Winchester. Everything else he did may not have happened if this first design didn't get him noticed.
