Just saw at local shop , 4 inch barrel SS security six. Honest wear from use but not abused, I believe the tag said 375 but might be abit higher-- gotta go back and look. What would be the higher end to ask for on this gun. Left side plate has stamped in " in honor of this countrys 200 years" or something to that effect so I"m guessing it was produced around 1976. I dont know if its an odd model to find being marked like that, perhaps a Ruger man can tell me more .

Ruger made a boatload of "Liberty" firearms in 1976. I have a Mini-14 and 6" Security Six so marked. I think $375 is a tad high for the revolver. I don't think the Bicentennial markings really add a price premium.

There's some collector's interest now, and will be more in the future. But as with all collector's interest the LNIB models with the original box and 100% condition will fetch the premium. It seems about $50 high to me at that price, but you won't lose much money if you take it and keep it awhile. Really fine shooting iron.

I was thinking that seemed abit high, used to have a fixed sight 4" blued security six back in the 80's, sold it for some reason . Maybe thought I'd like another cuz they shot well, maybe see what bottom price he'll take and then offer something in trade. I have a Baby Browning he wants for his collection, see if he wants it bad enough. Then tell him no trade,,, he likes to get stuff in for his collection by wanting you to give up abit more, especially things from estates that folks dont have a clue about.
So I gotta be careful not to get caught in the rush of wanting something, think I'll pass on this one.

nice gun - high price

There are plenty of well-kept, and better-priced Security Sixes out there if you are looking for a shooter.

That 200th anniversary thing is a gimmick.
