New use for Mossberg 500

Taking out snags! This weekend after clearing some spruce trees off my lot, I was faced with a real trap of a snag. Two trees had gotten hung up mid-fall, both stuck fast between two standing trees. I couldn't cut either standing tree without having it and the snags fall on me, and trying to pull them loose only made them stick harder.
So I opted to blast it apart with slugs from a safe distance :D
After about ten slugs and some buckshot, a nice breeze broke most of the mantrap apart.

Cosmo, such misuse of a fine shotgun could lead to you being charged with "High Tree-son"...
 :neener: :p

Sounds like fun, just make sure you've got room to be safe in. Pointing firarms to the sky and firing means lead coming down someplace, and even a 22 can injure someone at a mile or more.

Ok, have to admit it. In my youth my Dad and I used a pair of 870s to trim the tops of a really big tree. However we were out on the farm, nobody around for miles.
It was a lot of fun. Note: wear good eye protection! You are going to need it! :D

Whew! I thought I was the only one to use a long range chainsaw (870)

It's actually very safe. I shot from about 30 feet, behind some protective trees, from up on a stump. My shots angled down, and the slugs and shot that went through were instantly absorbed in the fallen timber and earth. I was tempted to use my .375 H&H, but even with miles of forest I couldn't be sure how far such a slug might penetrate.
I'm usually a rifle man, but the utility of the Mossy makes me want to get another one. Or a brace of cut-down Auto Fives to take out a whole forrest

I've got a nice tall healthy pine tree. With big green cones. That drip sap on our vehicles. :uhoh:
Oh, if only the neighborhood were different... and the state was different... :(
