I am sure this is the wrong place to post this but I am not sure where to put it. Anyway I was wondering what you guys thought a box of these might be worth.

I see all calibers of BT boxes selling for $40-$45. The price goes down proportionate to the popularity of the cartridge. 9mm's sell fast, the .45 OK, .38sp OK, 44mag slow,...

338 Black Talons?
Not sure I understand your question.
338 to me means .338 Magnum rifle, and there were no Black Talons made in anything except handgun calibers.
Are you asking about .338 Mag rifle ammo with black coated bullets in them?

Up to $50 bucks apiece. Saw some one trying to get $70 on Gunbroker, and they did not sell.
But really they are worth what some one will pay for them :)

Is the box marked "Black Talon" ??? (I'd bet not......!)
If not, they're Winchester 230gr FailSafe's. Actually a VERY GOOD heavy game load for the likes of Elk or Moose, or even the large bears..
Probably what ever you can get for them, as they've been discontinued. When they were current production, they were top-of-the-line ammo. Carried Winchester's CXP-3 rating.
However, some 200gr Ballistic Silvertips were also loaded. These have a silver polycarbonate (plastic tip). These too, have the black "lubalox" coating.....

They were $20 a box at a local Pawn shop. I dont know about collectibility but they will prolly hunt just fine.

But, I was also correct......!!!!
They ARE fail-safe bullets......
The Box marking of "Black Talon" was a marketing "gimmick".
The fail-safe technology is quite different from the pistol bullet technology. (side note; I couldn't duplicate the "talons" in any media other than ballistic gell......... even in a couple of hogs shot with it, the bullets were just balled up like any other expanding bullet... The "talons" just got folded up against the shank, or simply broke off........)
The fail-safes were discontinued because they were expensive to manufacture and accuracy was highly variable from lot to lot. A tungsten base core seated in a gilding metal hollowpoint bullet (very similar to the Barnes-X) with a steel wafer/disc crimped in the base to prevent the "core" from slipping from the bullet.....
But, it is indeed good hunting ammo............... $20 a box is about right price too.........
Personally, I just loaded my own 230gr Fail Safes for my .338/06 as you couldn't buy factory loaded .338/06 fail-safes at ANY price...............

I have personally seen .338 black talons. My BIL has several boxes. They did make them in rifle calibers.

Well I am not really trying to sell them, I was just curious if they had any value.
