I was talking to my bud that did the conversion and I realize..... I don't really care if it's converted. For the price, I could care less if it's only a 10 round magazine! Plus, in the chance of an assault weapons ban I wouldn't even have to worry, because, from what I understand, the only reason it could be banned is it's ability to take a large quantity magazine like a full AK47 would. This is only 10. My pistol takes more than that!
I want one that takes the narrow single stack 10 round magazines.
So... where do you get one of these little guns. I think it would be fun to add to my little arsenal!

If you have a Dunham's Sports near you, they usually carry them.

Under the old ban, yes.

HR 1022 would ban your 10-rd WASR. The AWB they tried to pass in NE would've banned your 10-rd WASR.

Many of the new AWB bills that are surfacing more or less say "any semi-auto centerfire rifle with a protruding pistol grip, adjustable stock, standard/hi-cap mag, flash suppresor, muzzle brake, bayonet lug, or removable mag is an assault weapon."

Base your purchases on TODAY. Do not try to accommodate a law that hasn't been passed yet. As dumb as some politicians are, they know that the '94 AWB was a joke. If/when a new one gets passed (at the state or national level), it'll make the 94 AWB look like a joke (which it was).

Just traded for my wasr-10 in Jan at the local gunshop, he said 250 out the door but i traded two cheap .22,s and a bayonet I had from Iraq, the wasr was brand new. Great shooter, I can shoot milk jugs at 100 yards and keep my shots in a 6 inch circle at the same distance. Keeping mine stock with the single stack, plus it has the dragunov stock which I like. I may be in Michigan but there are good deals out there.

You know what would be interesting? Call or email Interordinance arms, who imports the stg-2000 then converts them, and ask them if it possible for them to send to a dealer near you , a conversion model, but not to have the mag channel opened up, as they normally do.

So if an AWB banned WASR's as you say strat81, what would happen to those who owned them? Would they just have to "turn" them in?

Well, the '94 AWB had a grandfather clause. There's no telling if a new AWB will have one too. So yes, a "turn in" program might be instituted. Confiscations/gov't home invasion would trample the 4th amendment.

IIRC, folks down in Australia were told to turn them in back when their sweeping bans were implemented.
