I've found a KelTec p3at for $225 with one clip and a pocket clip. It is in very good condition. I just got my CCW permit and was wanting the Ruger LCP. Should I go ahead and get this KelTec for this price or wait until who knows when and spend more money on the Ruger? What would you do?

Buy the Kel tec. At that price you can resell it without getting hurt if you change your mind. I can actually hit stuff with mine @ 25 yds. Just need to practice a bit.

+1, especially if you are interested in working on it a little bit. Check out ktog.org, where there's VOLUMES of info on tweaking them to make them more reliable - if you happen to get one that has problems.

I ordered the LCP, but that's because 1) no P3AT presented itself at such a good price! and 2) I already had a snub I carry, so I'm in no hurry

I am getting it later today. What type of ammo is best to use in this gun for personal defense.

IMO the only round to shoot out of the kt 3800 go to corbon.com andorder direct. It is not cheap but neither is life. buy two boxes, waste one for total reliabiilitya nd use the other for ccw. great round. all copper barnes HP gives super expansion in the 380.

I'll second the Corbon DPX for ANY .380, not just the KT.

DPX, despite the name, only penetrates about 8-10" in .380. Same as nearly all the other .380 out there. Federal Premium 90 gr Hydra-Shoks will usually penetrate good, though, through short barrels only.

10" of penentration in my body is 2 inches outside my body. I can live with 10", the dpx also makes one hell of a hold in those 10" also. Other good rounds, not telling you there isn't.

That's a really good price, I'd go for it. You might want to look into a pocket holster. I'm not a fan of clips, they don't cover the trigger so if you've got a round chambered (which you should) and something like your keys gets in the trigger guard, sitting down could ruin your day.

I think the reason the FBI wants more is to be able to reach vitals if you hit them in the side or something like an arm gets in the way. BG's arent very cooperative to standing facing you squarely with their arms at their sides.

What type or brand of pocket holster do you like and could you place a link for me?

I've just started using these:

The #2 fits the Kel-Tec, the #1 fits my NAA Black Widow.

They are a little loose, which I like, they don't print, and they are made of a thick material.
