I have a Kel-Tec P11 in 9mm Luger which has been 100% reliable. So I bought its' little brother, the P3-AT in .380 Auto. I'm very pleased with its' small size, it's no bigger than a Jennings .22. :D

If any of you who own one of these would like to share what ammo it does or doesn't like I'll appreciate it.

Will post a range report when I can.

My 1st generation P3 isn't ammo sensitive at all. I use 102 grain handloaded Golden Sabres for carry, though I don't run all that many through the gun as they are rather warm loads.

Congrats on your new toy.

Reports of the Ruger LCP say it's sensitive to, think it was Remington and something else, can't remember. Anyway, it's ammo sensitive. It's in short supply anyway, new and likely doesn't have all the bugs out of it. I'm swingin' to the P3AT for now. Even if you get one that has a problem, Kel Tec will make the process of making it right almost enjoyable. That's the real strength of Kel Tec, though I've never had to use their services with my P11. That gun has over 11K rounds through it. I've owned it for a dozen years and in the past I put a LOT of rounds through it. I still practice with it, but split my range time with other firearms, but it's still 100 percent with anything I've fed it and still amazingly accurate.

For SD HP ammo I heard Corbon DPX is at the top of the heap for these guns ..as Corbon specifically designed .380 dpx around the P3 bbl length.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback.

It's good to hear the good news about your P11, I have one also that has been completely reliable.

Someone on KTOG ( www.ktog.org ) also mentioned the .380 DPX was designed around the P3-AT. :D

The trouble with Corbon is the price. Putting several hundred rounds through the gun to prove reliability could break my piggy bank. I'm not REAL convinced hollow point is the way to go in .380, but sorta trust the XTP 90 grain JHP as it has a rep for penetration. I'm still thinking of switching loads to a 105 grain SWC, though, that happens to be very accurate. It's a handload to standard pressure, but I worry about penetration in this caliber and I'm pretty sure that SWC will penetrate as well as any. It has fed really well in my .380s, too. I've only used it for practice, though.

There are no 2 guns alike. They are all different and some will eat anything you put in them while others will not. You just have to try different kinds of ammo.
