how does one go about staking the hammer strut pin on a 1911? what tools are used an how? thanks.

I use a small center-punch & hammer, or a spring-loaded center-punch with the hammer laying flat on a steel bench block.
All it takes is a very light demple on each side.

Don't overdo it!

Afterword, stone off any metal thrown up by the dents so the hammer sides are smooth again.
