There is something that is just fundamentally WRONG with this picture.

There are two things fundamentally wrong with this picture. Not a single night sight on any of them. And everyone knows its semi-autos on the lower rack, revolvers on the top rack.
edit: P.S. What would that do to the glocks?

Its the other way around! The semi-autos will melt on the lower rack!

...this is the very reason that the Steyr AUG was made so compactly--just take off the barrel and both pieces fit nicely in the ol' Kenmore..:D

Looks just fine if you've been shooting corrosive ammo.
Wouldn't do that to a Colt, though.

Fundamentally wrong = big rubber grip condoms on guns that are already pretty wide through the grip...

Things wrong with this picture.
1. Shooting residue has lead in it. Not something you want to get on your dishes.
2. The grip frame on the Glock is impervious to just about everything. However, the one thing that will accelerate breakdown is very hot water.
3. Most quality knife manufacturers recommend not putting your knives on the bottom shelf. The heat from the drying cycle can affect the temper. I suspect it's not going to be good for the springs.
4. I seriously doubt that a dishwasher is going to do a good job on the bore.

scary thing is i used to know a guy who did this with his set of SS Ruger Old Armies, he'd strip the grips off, take the cylinder out, unscrew the nipples fromthe cylinder, and stick every thing but the grips and nipples in the top rack. run a cycle, take everything out, swab it down and re-lube.
i think after his wife cought him the first time he actually went out and bought some el-cheapo dishwhasher adn installed it in his garage!!! said he'd never go back the the "hard way" of cleaing his BP guns again
sheesh, for the guns in question the "HARD part" is getting the bits that can't just be dunked in hot soapy water off!!
and no i cna't see this having any real effect on a modern gun that is being fed smokeless, and you WOULD have to stri[p and re-lube anyway. so there is no point you may as well clean the normal way.
