I saw Cruz getting interviewed on the Today show yesterday. His delivery was, to my ear, completely deviod of a hispanic accent. That immediately struck me as odd since I seem to recall him speaking with a thick hispanic accent in the past (although I cant remember exactly when I heard a sound bite from him).

Does Cruz have an accent that he trots out or hides depending on who he's trying to appeal to?

He is bilingual, and gives interviews in both English and Spanish. I don't have any prior experience with him, so I can't comment on what his accent used to be, but it seems pretty clean to me.

McClintock's the guy, but he doesn't have the star power to take

If California Latinos are going to identify themselves with illegal aliens, then I think non-Latinos have every right to bring up the issue of Aztlanistas. One of these days some brave souls will ignore the slings and arrows of "racism" encouraged by the elites and just lay out what is really going on today in this state (and beyond). This is part of the bigger Culture War already underway.

My view of Bustamante is that if Governor he would not only continue the socialist legacy of his predecessor but institute a Latino patronage system. I think he needs to come clean on where he stands today and reject his earlier allegiances to organizations like MECHA.
