I'm thinking about trading in my 360SC for a used or new 340PD. Does the 340PD have any benefits over the 360SC other than the hammerless design?

Not really, other than what you have already mentioned, the "hammerless" design. Also the PD version is darker than yours. If you're worried about the hammer you can always just have it bobbed off, or get a replacement hammer that is bobbed and just switch it out. That way if you ever change your mind you can just swap it back.
You'll lose money when you either trade up and pay the difference or, sell it outright and then use the money to buy the PD version. Unless you really need the darker finish, I would just keep what you already have, and maybe bob the hammer.
And if you like the front sight of the PD version better you can always just buy the sight and swap it out as well. You can maybe do that yourself or pay a gunsmith, it's just a pin that is punched out/in.

I'm going to contact S&W and see if the 360s spur hammer can be swapped for the 340s hammer.

Nope, the hammers should not be swapped from a 340 to a 360, best get another 360 hammer and have it fitted and bobbed.

I just called S&W and was told it is $42 + $15 shipping to have the hammer bobbed, re-blued and made DA only. Not bad I suppose. I could also go back to a spur hammer if I wanted to.
