Ok,need some advice here..is it ok to swap
bbl bet 1911 45s? Having some concerns re
headspace(?)among others on this practice.
Shooting buddy seems to think ok to swap
bet same manufacturers (SA to SA). Anyone?
Thanks!

If you are refering to service grade guns it is probably O.K. to swap barrels, but so-called match barrels are often individually fit to a particular gun and may, or may not fit in another one. One of the strong points of the old military Colt was that all parts could be interchanged without fitting.

The GI guns were held to tolerances that allowed for part swapping. On commercial guns, it might work and it might jam the slide and/or tear up the barrel lugs.

BBL lug has to be fitted to the gun. That gives you the lock-up and affects unlocking. The hood should be fitted (but most of the time, they'll fit anyway). The locking lugs on the top of the bbl should be checked to ensure that they fit too. Finally, the barrel bushing must be fitted especially if you want reasonable accuracy.
