Very similar performance-wise, but in a more compact package.

It's based on the .308 Winchester, obviously, and it's nearest cousins below 7mm are the .243 Winchester, and .260 Remington (formerly known as the 6.5-08) .

The 7mm08 sends a 140-grain bullet out at about the same velocity of the .308's 150-grain. Thus, slightly flatter out beyond 300 yards.

Cost? Rifle or ammo? About the same as any .308. :)

I wanted a lightweight rifle, so I chose the 700 Ti. Luvvit! My handloads shoot to the same POI as factory stuff. Fits me well; recoil from the bench isn't bad at all. Yadda-yadda-goodwords...

6-1/4 pounds, with sling, ammo and a Weaver V3. I'm thinking of putting a Leupold 2.7 on it...
