with air soft guns

I was driving down the road the other day and saw a lowered cadillac (which was pumping some pretty loud base) turn in front of me. All of a sudden, two "gangstas" on the passenger side, front and back, popped out of their windows with air soft guns (pistols with clear plastic and red muzzles) at the same time the driver stuck out a AR-15 type air soft gun of similar appearance.

They all opened up on a apartment unit, then screeched away???? :what:
Yellow BB's flying everywhere.

I laughed my butt off and minded my own business. Just glad they weren't real guns. Anyway, this was probably still an illegal act.

There lucky no one shot back at them with real guns.

That's Hilarious! Now Canadian cops are going to have to be armed with air soft guns as well in case of a similar incident. I laugh now, but it will hurt later. An actual Cadillac huh, sweet.

KY law considers them a firearm.

at least it looked like it. I still can't believe this, they had every detail down. Must have been film students or something.

what if it was done with finger guns? Would the police need to be armed with finger guns too?

Anyway, this was probably still an illegal act.

Probably quite so. In Minnesota, I believe you can be charged with making felony terroristic threats for doing that. As an airsoft player and hobbyist, this kind of behavior disgusts me.

THR has me rolling tonight. I've been reading this:

squirrels, vomit, guns, this thread links it all. And now airsoft drive-by's...This cannot get any better.

I was thinking for a moment after my last comment how funny it would be if a group of people did a finger gun drive-by.

Then I realized how very much that would be assault. It lost its humor.

It can turn in a real bad deal. Someone point a weapon at me and I will respond in a manner I think is needed.

That's kind of scary to me. Could have been practice for a real deal.

Must have been film students or something.

Years ago, an actor friend of mine was making a student film. A bunch of actors pulling prop guns on a city street corner suddenly found themselves surrounded by cops with drawn guns. Not a good idea.

A few years ago, I was doing some target practise in an area that had an off-road vehicle section and a canyon that recreational shooters used. There was a dirt road on one side of the canyon, and I was on the hillside overlooking that road.

I was taking a break when I heard a volley of rounds coming from the dirt road. When I looked, there was a lowered '64 Chevy on the road. The occupants of the vehicle had set up empty beer bottles on the other side of the canyon and they were using them to practise their drive-by shooting! The lowered Chevy was making slow passes by the beer bottles, and 4 dressed-down gang bangers were hanging out of the windows, TRYING to hit the beer bottles. I just sat there and watched, with my M1A loaded and ready to go if they saw me and decided to practise the real thing.

On about the 4th pass, one of the idiots finally hit one of the beer bottles. Someone else, however, had an A/D inside the vehicle, and I actually saw the hole in the roof! The vehicle stopped and all of them looked at the hole, then the driver slapped around one of the others (probably the idiot who had the A/D). Two minutes later, they drove out of the area. I was going to write down the license plate of the vehicle, but the plate had been removed. They were up to NO good!

I'm sure that would count as shooting/throwing something from a moving car at a person in another moving car. Last time I checked that would be a felony twice over.

DesertDawg's scenario, assuming a good vantage point, would have been a great time to have that M1A scoped and suppressed...wonder what would have gone through the gang banger's minds to see their beer bottles exploding one after another before they even pulled the triggers? I wonder if the feeling of "somebody's watching me" would deter any future mischief, or something worse?

had that happen in the uk idiots were slightly less amused to find a real armed response and up on fire arms charges :D
if it looks like a gun cops tend to treat it like a gun.
most people if someobody points a gun at them expect it to be a real one.:(

I'm sure by now the local news media has reported that those involved in this incident used AK47 automatic guns, and will call for a new ban on these evil firearms. Meanwhile the Chief of Police will call a news conference to ask for additional funding to equip his force with M-16's, "We are badly underguned on the streets, and must level the plying field," he'll say. :neener:

I once had some kids pull on side of my while I was driving down the road and attempt to spray a water gun (Not like a squirt gun, but like a super duper soaker) into my window. When we pulled up at the next red light he was aiming it right at me. I politely looked at him and said "Spray it, and I'm spraying back". He evidently got the message after I winked at him and decided that it was a bad idea. The water cannon went into the back seat and they sat and stared at me with the deer in the headlights look as I drove away.

I mean, it is a harmless prank but I would have been really upset if they would have sprayed me. It also could have caused an accident as we were driving the first time the kid attempted to spray into my truck. Guess they didn't attend physics class to learn that water doesn't fly straight when there is a 45 mph crosswind.

If I saw that, I probably would have thought it was hilarious until I realized it might have been a threat. That act could easily be interpreted as the actors saying "See how easy we did that? Next time we'll use real guns".

My reaction was opposite. I saw it as a threat initially, "oh no gangsters with guns," then I realized they were air soft. Then I laughed at it. I realize its nothing to laugh about though, but hey, no harm no foul.

"gangstas" aren't allowed to have fun?

Either way, it's probably better to keep it amongst friends than spraying random passers by,
in the case of ske1etor

I'd treat incidents like that with extreme caution. I'd def feel threatened if some idiots did that.

That "drive by practice" thing is unbelievable, DesertDawg. I second that guy who said something about a suppressor on your M1A :)

A teacher of mine, who was born in Jamaica, once told me that people will actually ride up on a bicycle, blow them away, and ride off. It's a popular way to do a hit apparently.

Really disturbing stuff.

Some teens around here were shooting people with red paintballs a few years back. It's not exactly harmless fun. If they do it to the wrong person they'll win a Darwin.
