The May 2001 issue of American Rifleman has a list of all the handguns used by all State Police Agencies.

Either way, I'm not sure what good an 7 year old list is going to do you.

well, i'd like to know what my city, county and state police use. (toledo police, lucas county sheriff's department, ohio state troopers) but I don't want to go out looking for the cops :neener:

In general:
You're not going to find a master list, if that's what you're hoping for.
A combination of observation, conversation, and web searching is probably your best bet, but you'll still be left with a lot of guess work.
For specific ones:
Same formula, but you'll be able to get a fairly accurate answer if you work on it. (If I knew, for example, I'd tell you.)

I think the Ohio Highway Patrol carries the SIG 226 in .40S&W (I think it is the DAK version). As far as your local agencies go, I'm not sure, but S&W autos have always been popular in Ohio.

My local police recently switched to the M&P .40. My friend from the force said that it is just as good as the Glocks.

1st post. Been lurking.
Simple version: Just ask when you see them.
Complex version: Hunt down the phone # to the training academy which trains said officers, and then attempt to contact their FTU(firearms training unit) and ask them by phone.
Seems to be alot of anti-police on here? I get that feeling anyway.
I carry onduty a Sig P229 w/ rails. DAO. they now have the DAK guns but only newer officers are getting them they aren't changing all of ours out.

This guy has been compiling the list and updating it for over 3 yrs. Can't vouch for the accuracy as agencies change and there's no way he could know.
