The gremlins did it----I swear!

Got down here to my buddy's place to help out since his Dad died Saturday before last. Put my carry gun on the dresser where I always put it. Went to go out in the evening to pick up some building supplies and the gun was gone. Hunted everywhere I could think of, no gun. Stood in the middle of the room looking around going, Where the **** did it go? Found it on the top shelf in the closet I never use.

Had to be the gremlins. You know, those little people who sneak in at night and rearrange things while you are sleeping! I know they are real because they do other things as well. Here are the ones I know of.

1. The belt gremlin---the one who sneaks in at nite and shrinks your belt.
2. The parking lot gremlin---the one who moves your truck over two rows while you are shopping.
3. The shooting range gremlin---the one who takes the ammo out of your range bag for the one gun you really wanted to shoot. Also takes the tape out of your pocket on the way ot to check your target. And the one who puts the guy with the elephant gun to your left at the range so you get all his brass bouncing off your hat.

Any body else got any gremlins?:D

You forgot one thing the shooting range gremlins do - they always, ALWAYS steal one or two pieces of brass from every mag you shoot.

1. The belt gremlin---the one who sneaks in at nite and shrinks your belt.

thats not what he does, he makes your midsection grow overnight and makes creative pyramids of empty beer cans on the kitchen counter...

and also you forgot a couple...

the gun oil gremlin... the one that switches your solvent and oil bottles around on the table while you are cleaning a gun causing you to give your gun a light coat of solvent

the sock gremlin... the one that causes one half of every pair of socks to disappear somewhere between the dirty laundry and the clean laundry

the scope gremlin... makes half of your scopes go way out of alignment and also puts mysterious fingerprints on the other half

and the one i hate the most

the ear plug gremlin... sets off a series of 8mm rifle shots precisely 2 seconds after you remove your earplugs to talk to your buddy

Irishman,
Didn't you know that sprinkling a little bullseye on the ground around your range position will keep them from stealing the brass?

what bout the darn gremlin that hides the gun oil, so you go and buy more, then find out where he put the last 3 bottles you bought? and for the gremlin caliber, someone is working on it...

I hate the target moving gremlins. They wait until you're just ready to take a shot then move the target two feet so you miss completely, then move it back before you can recover from the recoil and notice what they had done. :scrutiny:

My gremlins are similar but they for some reason continually take apart my RUGER MARK III and for those of you who know how difficult it is to get a Ruger MARK III back together after disassembly of the action and trigger then you know what I am talking about.

"...ALWAYS steal one or two pieces of brass..." That's a tax collected by Mars and Athena.

I think these range gremlins have a thing for small pieces of metal.

The one's at the range I go to always take a staple out of one upper corner of my new target. By the time I return to the firing line, the corner is already hanging down in front of the bullseye.

Irishman,
Didn't you know that sprinkling a little bullseye on the ground around your range position will keep them from stealing the brass?

Now, do I just have to sprinkle the Bullseye around my shooting position, or make a ring around me and where my brass will fall? If the latter is true, it could work for my 1911, but I'd spend more on Bullseye than ammo to cover the area where my FAL throws brass.

My gremlins are similar but they for some reason continually take apart my RUGER MARK III and for those of you who know how difficult it is to get a Ruger MARK III back together after disassembly of the action and trigger then you know what I am talking about.

I think the gremlins designed the Mark III.

Now, do I just have to sprinkle the Bullseye around my shooting position

That'll do it!

Another way is to bring an offering of empty rimfire brass.

"I hate the brass thief gremlin."

Actually, I think it is the brass thief gremlins working in cahoots with the range gods. The range gods get very upset when the range is over populated. They like to see the range somewhat busy but not crowded. When it is crowded, they send out the brass thief gremlins to remind you that it is too busy. ;)

Two feet? Regolith, the target moving gremlins at my range let me take three or four shots, then they move the target three or four inches while I shoot my last or second to last shot.

Some old man keeps talking about flyers. Flyers??? I said to him: No such thing as flyers, it's the TM gremlins.:banghead:

I have 5 cans of rem oil, I use it on everything so that is not the problem but the fact that I can NEVER find one when I need it is. BTW spring is here Rem oil works great on bike chains. Ran into a new gremlin last week when I took my son fishing. He got a nice steelhead and a nice brown, I did not even get a bite. The gremlins made sure of it. Or the gremlin that tickles your nose and makes you sneeze as the deer is coming down the trail. the one that is really dangerous is the one that switches the sugar for salt in your first cup of coffee.

Let's not forget about the gunspring gremlins. They're the little buggers that snatch up any spring or part that comes flying out of your firearm, and then hide it from you. Forever.

Gor grimlins I think I would use a 223 rem with 36gr Barns Varmint Granade bullets. Take only head shots and watch them explode like crazy.

I hate them document gremlins, you know the ones that take and move your important paper work and rearange it.

nah 223 only riles them up, this would be better...

link gremlins......223 or 7.62x39
url gremlins.......308 or 30.06
image gremlins....338 on up
target gremlins......air guns to 460 Weatherby
Brass gremlins.......well, I like the 7mm08, but you choose
gun spring gremlins....dab a little Hoppes9 behind your ears
Belt gremlins (See above but substitute Slim Fast for Hoppes9)

Mudslinger, you're right about 223 just riling them up, but that really only applies to ball ammo. With a properly placed shot and a properly selected bullet, 223 is just fine.
