I shoot a browning stalker pump 10ga with a 28'' barrel.I bought it to reach out and touch them since i got tired of the geese always staying out of range :D so who else still uses a 10ga?

I took my BPS 10ga duck hunting last year with 1 5/8oz loads of steel #4 and an improved cylinder choke (which with steel is Modified) . I limited both times I went.:)

I have a single shot 10 I'm not much of a goose hunter but the few times I have went I don't have much trouble bringing them down

I have two a BPS Stalker that I've owned for the better part of 20 years. And a recently aquired Remington SP 10 semi- auto that I haven't had the pleasure of hunting with yet. Mine are mission specific "Goose killers" Nothing can touch a ten when it comes to hurling large shot (BBB or T) at large birds at long distances. And it's considerably cheaper to shoot than a 12 ga. with Hevi-Shot or Wingmaster HD.

Another BPS Stalker here. More of a novelty for me though... I always wanted a 10 bore and now I have one. The devastation that chambering causes on target is pretty amazing at times.

After one Matador, one Ithaca, and two Brownings, the first time I shot tungsten matrix I started looking to sell my 10 gauges. With steel, the big 10s were in a class by themselves. I could kill geese and swans while watching others simply hurrying them along with their 12 gauges. But, they were always too heavy to handle really well (and back then I was 6'-2" and 240 lbs. and in shape) in anything but the wide open spaces for me.

Remington SP-10 for turkeys. Got a 24# bird last year at 52 yards with #5 Hevi-Shot. If I were more of a goose hunter I'd maybe use it there too.

I love the 10ga for turkeys and geese.
Wore out a Gold steel receiver and wanted a Gold Lite - got it and while I still have the steel version, the Aluminum Alloy receiver on the Gold lite is perfect for me.

30" barrels are awfully long on the 10ga shotguns with those long receivers on the gas guns, but they look about right ( and work RIGHT! ) on the Over-Under and SxS that showed up here.
I think a 10ga with the SAMMI pressure allowances tolerated on a 3.5" 12ga would be the end of the 3.5 incher 12ga shotguns.

Years ago I heard about the "Ithaca Road Blocker". Does that thing really exist?

its about the same as a 3 1/2 heavy mag load. I'm sure you could get a mag load for 10 ga, but I'm not that brave.

Ithaca Auto-10 26" barrel pro-ported and screw on chokes ,,mine is mostly used for deer with buck shot, required in my area,, when the chance presents itself have alo used it for turkey.

The "Road Blocker" came with a cylinder bored 18" barrel, have been looking for another barrel either that lenght or just another barrel for the Auot-10 for some time,, not many made of any of them

Browning gold 10,28'' and love it, it patterns #4 real nice and 54 pellets tend to take care of business

Well that's cool i'm not the only one still shooting a 10ga :cool: everybody that i goose hunt with think they're "obselete" (sp?) i haven't shot it much 12 shells to be exact (birds quit flying) but as far recoil i'd rather shoot my bps 10 than my buddys benelli super nova 2 pump 12ga with 3 1/2'' mag loads. When we hunted together at new years his nova was like an automatic ejector the way it kicked. So recoil imo is not that bad and very managable.
But weight always plays a part in the recoil my 10ga weighs in at about 10-11 lbs.
(even with the syn. stock and forearm) which is why the recoil is not as bad as his nova that weighs in at about 6-7 lbs. so it all depends on the weight of the gun as to how bad the kick is.
