...I went cheap when I got back into shooting 18 months ago and am looking to upgrade. I don't want to break the bank on a bag, but would like to be able to bring 2-3 autoloaders to the indoor range with sufficient AMMO, mag's, targets, ear & eye protection, etc. for 2 shooters (expect my better half to be joining me at some point).

Would like to find something in the $50 price point...suggestions?

I have had their proshooter bag for about six months now and have been very happy with it's features. Get one while they're still underpriced. At about $50 they compare to bags I've seen priced at over $150.

iSHOT. Just got one of their Mini Deluxe bags and it's just what I needed. It's more than a range bag for me - it doubles as my in-car flight bag, carrying all my essentials when I'm hitting the road.

His and hers big canvas tool bags from Lowe's or wherever. One would do. Plenty of pockets and a shoulder strap, too. Around $25.

I can get 2 or 3 guns with the factory boxes in mine along with the muffs, stapler, targets, some boards, screwdriver set, 2 hex key sets, oil, grease, extra mags, a level(for the rifle rest) and some ammo.

Nothing wrong with cheap.

For the past twenty+ years I've used an old Smith Corona typewriter case as my "range bag." Everything but the gun goes into it. Pistols go in a rug, rifles in a hard case.

I just got a nice Everest range bag as a gift. It has zippered side compartments, two front pockets and a shoulder strap. It's so nice I decided to use it as an overnight bag for clothing on road trips. So, all the range gear will still go into the typewriter case. ;)

I picked one of those $24.95 shooting bags from Wal-Mart and use that. I can carry 2 of my pistols in the provided gun rugs and have room for ammo and gear.

When I used to go shooting after work, I used one of my old laptop/soft briefcase bags. No one was the wiser. :D I could only get 1 pistol and gear/ammo in it without it bulging out.

I have a decent leather range bag (I forget the maker). Nothing special but it works. It has two removable "pockets" for guns leaving plenty of room for ammo and stuff or you can bring more guns in holsters or their own cases but less room for ammo and stuff. I find I never bring it with me. I use it in the very rare occasions when I shoot my blackpowder revolver and it carries only my revolver and other blackpowder accessories (including the powder) but to a large degree that is simply so I can justify that I paid for the thing- I can at least feel like there is a reason for me to own it.

I usually just use a normal sized backback. One that is similar to what many college and high school students use to carry their books. I had a couple around anyway and thinking about it I figured many people (at least gun people) would know what was in the range bag, but unless they actually saw me enter or leave the range a backpack is pretty low profile. If I'm going to have several hundred to a thousand dollars or more worth of guns in the bag, in a state that doesn't allow me to carry guns, I don't want to essentially advertise what I've got- though I think the basic idea works in a carry state too. As a nice side bonus this thing carries a ton of guns. At least four plus ammo with hard cases, more if I want to use soft cases or holsters. In addition there are two smaller compartments where I can keep some cleaning gear and tools as well.

This is an Uncle Mike's Deluxe Range Bag.

I had a gift certificate provided by the generosity of others which made the acquisition very affordable at my local outfitter/gun shop.

I am particularly impressed with the locking zipper setup, which I find very useful.

I probably would have preferred the i-Shot, but all things being equal, I can't complain about being able to buy a range bag of this type for less than $5 out of pocket.

My range bag had to serve several purposes:

1. Hold my one gun, ammo, targets, ear plugs, cleaning kit
2. Secure my carry gun in my car if I had to enter a "gun-free zone" or wanted to have a beer (MN law prohibits drinking and carrying)
3. Secure my gun TO the car, so that breaking into the trunk didn't mean getting the gun

I ended up going to Home Depot and getting a 26" Husky tool box ($12), a heavy-duty hasp, a large padlock and a length of steel chain.

The box holds all of the gear I need. The hasp holds the beefy lock, and the lock goes through both ends of the chain, which runs through a steel tie-down loop in the trunk.

I can carry that tool box anywhere without raising eyebrows, and I feel very confident that no one without bolt cutters or a chainsaw is going to remove my weapon from my car.

As a proud new father, my alternate range bag is an adorable diaper bag, pink and blue, complete with bunnies and chicks and a few diapers in the outside pocket. I believe that I could leave this in an unlocked car and be perfectly safe. :)

I'd say spend $17.99 at Lowe's, and you'll have a better range bag than the $100 ones, IMO - get a heavy duty nylon/denier tool bag - mine has like 12 pockets out, and 6 in - it's great and very large / roomy! Only thing it doesn't have that I wouldn't mind having is padded compartments for pistols.

I use a BIG yellow plastic toolbox (from either Walmart or Sears, I dont remember, probably Walmart) that I got for like $10. Its huge so it holds all my stuff (no way I can end up at the range without a magazine for a firearm, as I keep one of each type in the bottom), and there's no way in heck I can lose it.
