Loading .38 special using "The Complete Reloading Manual for the .38 spl.."

Powder - Unique 5 gr. Sierra 158Gr jhc all rounds came out to oal of 1.45 and chambered normally in a 60's vintage S&W 10.

Second batch the only difference was 5.3 gr of Unique.

How will these do in my Marlin 1894c ?

I have on hand 158 gr and 125 gr. Rainier plated flat nose. Rainier recommends using load data for lead bullets. Do you have a favorite load for these for the model 10 and 1894c?

re: using them in your carbine;
whatever bullet u use needs to have a flat point,and the crimp needs to be firm so the recoild doesn't start setting the bullets back into the case.They should shoot just fine in the marlin,but won't stop a charging buffalo. :)

Careful, 5.3 gr of unique in a 38 spec. can be a little to hot depending on your make of brass. Cast lead bullets in a Marlin 44 mag. with micro grove did not shoot for me, riflling to thin, other will say not. I feel cast/lead bullets might work better in Ballard type rifling now used on some models of Marlins.

5.3 grains Unique and a 158 gr JHP is well into +P pressure levels, if not slightly past them.
