Apparently it still works in Boston. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/chronicle/15595711/detail.html

Instead of writing me, click instead on the “Remembrance/Biographies” page on Virginia Tech’s website. Look in the eyes of those departed faces.
And tell them why their murderer should have been allowed to buy his gun anyway. And still would be, in the 32 states that still require no background check at all.

1. The NICS check is FEDERAL LAW and therefore applies in EVERY state (all 50, plus DC, Puerto Rico, and the territories). Background checks are required everywhere under the Brady Bill.

2. The Virginia Tech MURDERER, Seung-Hui Cho, passed a NICS check for each of the two guns he acquired through an FFL dealer. The best background check system available failed in this instance but the shortcomings of NICS regarding mental health records have been addressed by the Congress.

The truth does not matter to a good soundbite. They want more laws, and are willing to lie and connive to do so, regardless of any truth.
