I was playing around with the digital camera, and I thought I'd try my hand at some gun photos.

My Kahr MK9 & Kel-tec P3AT:

Wow, nice collection and nice photography. How did you take the photos? I was trying to take some of my SA 1911 Stainless the other day and if the flash was on there was too much glare on the gun and with no flash, it was too dark.

I really like the way you composed the photos, especially the "Black on Black", good job.

John, I turned off the flash on the camera, and shot from a tripod using the timer. I took the pictures near a window, but the shades were down. The shades are a thin white fabric, so the light was more diffused.

Nice family and excellent photos.

Man that Kahr is sweet. I think I've just gotten the "itch" for a new summer gun.

And for post #556, what else should I post but an AR-15? Here's my Rock River midlength with a Ruger 10/22 fitted with Tech-sight AR-15 style sights and a Tapco plastic stock.

Oops - I guess this belongs in rifles!

Thanks DirksterG30,

I'll try that... now that we have a little Sun here in Oregon... spring has been a little late in getting here and from what the weather man says, we are getting some clouds back next week. I do have a tripod somewhere so I will give it a shot. Thanks for the info.

in "A gun for every season", your 1911's SN is plain to see, yet you obscure it in a later pic.....why?

No problem, John. I look forward to your pictures.

JohnNRATalley - Also, if you need to use the flash and have a good zoom, back as far away from the gun as your zoom will allow you. This will reduce the glare on the gun itself and keep the image from being too dark.

An oversight! I've posted the pictures on a few other forums as well, so there's no point in editing the #s out now.

Nice collection and terrific photos. Besides proper lighting, I think a picture's composition and symmetry are some of the most important aspects of great firearm photography.
